Pickleball Location considerations:
● Proposal for Pickleball Courts at Outlet Mall ( Kristie Wetjen )
○ Owned by SRE Hawkeye(Chicago)
○ Rent/Usage Fee–approx $500/mo + Liability(COI) insurance ($6k+/year)
○ Location: In middle of parking lot, front of Old Navy
○ Positive aspects: lights, bathrooms and maintenance provided, centrally located;
○ Rental agreement 5-10yr lease; transfer if change in ownership
○ Dog park=no charge(free) ○ Concerns: What happens with change of ownership? Monthly cost; Safety for kids/family due to proximity to interstate; Privately owned(Chicago);
● Proposal for Pickleball Courts at Williamsburg Rec Center Parking Lot ( Nicole/Mitch )
○ New location proposal: within gravel parking lot, near playground, ball fields, public + rec ctr. Restrooms, paved walking path & protected from wind.
○ Positive aspects: close to rec amenities, no rental or maintenance fees, close to bathrooms, within city limits, safe area; brings people over the hill and into town; If pickleball courts go unused, they could easily be used as pavilions or parking or basketball courts.
○ Courts would be donated to the city once fundraising is done and courts are built. ○ Room for expansion
● Discuss next steps for this group
○ Meet and discuss/finalize preferred location
○ Clarify and begin building formal agreements
